Ramsgate Foodies Market

Really impressed with this cute little market, loads of fresh produce and small stores selling the most scrumptious food! Anyone in the area should definitely pay a visit :)

2014 - BEST YEAR YET?

In my previous posts, I was telling you guys how I was on the job hunt and busy pimping my portfolio and getting everything prepared…well it worked!
I just finished my first week at a design studio called Southern Design as their new Graphic Designer. It's a super exciting, scary and a totally 'adult'  job. Looking forward to learning more and more each day and facing some exciting design challenges.

I think it's even more important now to remember to balance life + art.
I'm inspired everyday by bloggers and artists I find on instagram and pinterest and I believe it's so important to continually surround yourself with creative people (even if you don't personally know them). They will teach you, inspire you and encourage you to constantly create. Keeping your creativity alive is one of the most important tasks you should set yourself everyday.

So get out! Take photographs, throw some paint around or even try one of those tricky pinterest DIY posts !

Postcard Design Project

Some photographs taken at Cockatoo Island.
Such a unique place with amazing textures! The visit was part of an assessment, where we had to design an event in a gothic theme that would be held at Cockatoo Island. The event was to be advertised with a set of 4 postcards

My event was 'a day of collage' a workshop where artists and beginners could take photos and experiment with the art of collage! I called it Paper Heart and incorporated my photographs into the collages, allowing the textures to become drapes of clothing on my abstract figures. Now it's not a real workshop but one day it might just be ;)
Below are photographs of my finished project.

Ink

Kate + Ciara & Greg (the cat)

I have been meaning to upload this one for awhile now! This photo shoot was part of an assessment where we had to design a book about Tattoo's. We were asked to take our own photographs of at least two people who had tattoos. I was lucky enough to have some good friends with amazing tattoo art who were willing to pose for me. I wanted the shoot to be really natural and have a film-grunge feel.
To me, Tattoos are about the skin and the story. So I didn't want any 'styled outfits' or set compositions, it all came together quite naturally and I was really happy with the result. These are just a few of my favourites and of course I had to include gorgeous Greg (the cat) just look at those green eyes! Born to model haha.
